Festungsshuttle Ehrenbreitenstein

Koblenz / Germany

People movers of the newest generation:

The new 'Fortress Shuttle' provides a permanent, comfortable connection between the fortress and the youth hostel and the city neighbourhood of Ehrenbreitstein, making it a sustainable infrastructure feature that is especially contributes to the city's tourism. The investment costs were well spent: The climb up the Ehrenbreitstein was especially difficult due to the steep incline of the mountain path. In addition to this, the chair lift that was operated prior to the new people mover was not particularly well-suited to people with limited mobility or with baggage.

The new inclined lift, on the other hand, which also provides comfortable transport during poor weather, is barrier-free for individual passengers as well as for groups throughout the entire year, even on Sundays and holidays, from 6:00 am to 0:30 pm. The fact that the inclined lift is able to be operated by the guests themselves provides an uncomplicated, comfortable way to 'conquer' the historical fortress walls.
