Considerations such as comfort, flexibility, the environment and the interests of the elderly and handicapped, increasingly point towards smaller, more modern systems.

In this case, especially the call processing development of hillside locations always means a challenge for designer and provider. The Doppelmayr-Group sets up for this challenge to form a unique pool of know-how an competence. The result is „Inclined Transport Technology“: Small, automatic funiculars and inclined elevators, added to solve the problems regarding passenger service systems for local areas.

Their work in this field fueled the foundation, in 1997, of ABS Transportbahnen Ges.m.b.H., with headquarters in Wolfurt, Vorarlberg.
